CRAI Scouts

Delivering Scouting to Young People in the Caerphilly County Borough

Scout Active Support allows people to give their time to Scouting on a flexible basis. People can still be involved in Scouting without the full-time commitment of being a leader.

It provides a resource for Managers of local Scouting including Group Scout Leaders, District Commissioners and County/Area Commissioners, who can use it in whichever way is required.

Scout Active Support is for anyone over the age of 18 years. It is a way for adults to volunteer time to Scouting in a flexible way that suits them.

There is no requirement to have been involved in Scouting before joining. All that is required is a willingness to volunteer some time to support Scouting.

We've been working with 1st Rayleigh Scout Group Target Team over the past year to establish CRAI Scout Activity Park as a training centre for Tomahawk Throwing Instructors within Scouting.

The final assessment was successfully completed yesterday with the park fully recognised as a training centre.

With the lack of any National Governing Body for Hawk Throwing the 1st Rayleigh Team are recognised as amongst the most experienced in the Country and have been instrumental in creating the rules and guidelines contained within POR to allow Hawk Throwing to be run as a safe activity within Scouting.

The team from 1st Rayleigh regularly run training sessions at events such as Gilwell Reunion (they will be back there this year!) using the same training course and techniques as will now be delivered by the CRAI Hawks.

If you are interested in attending a Course – or having a dedicated Course run for your Group or District – contact the Activity Centre on bookings@park.craiscouts.org.uk to get a date agreed.
